SERAP To Sue Senate President, Godswill Akpabio Over ‘Holiday Allowance’ To Senators

A rights group, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), has said that it will sue the senate President, Godswill Akpabio over the alleged payments of “holiday allowances” by the Clerk of the National Assembly into the “various accounts” of senators while some 137 million poor Nigerians face severe economic hardship.

In its verified Twitter account on Thursday, SERAP stated, “We’re suing the Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the alleged payments of “holiday allowances” by the Clerk of the National Assembly into the “various accounts” of senators while some 137 million poor Nigerians face severe economic hardship.”

Recall that the senate president in a gaffe had disclosed that the Clerk of the National Assembly would pay ‘holiday allowance’ into the various accounts of senators, a development that has generated mixed reactions among Nigerians
